Our life in Honduras/Chiminike Museum

This one is for you Aunt Sunny :)

Chiminike Children's Musuem

The bed of nails! So cool!

By far the best dinosaur exhibit around. Discovery Channel was here recently to film the tour.

We have established a routine now that day 7 is in the books. It goes something like this: wake up at 5:30 a.m. play with puzzles, play-doh, playing cards, Brett draws, Madeline reads, Justin plays with either Bob or I, then with much protest from Brett we go downstairs to eat the all-inclusive breakfast buffet around 7:30 when Justin tells me in Spanish that he is hungry. Breakfast usually consists of bread, bagels, muffins, cereal, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, milk, watermelon, pineapple or papaya, scrambled/boiled eggs or pancakes. I don't usually eat breakfast, but now it is something else to do while we live in the hotel so I have taken it up as a daily habit with my family. After breakfast we will move up to the terrace to play with bubbles, hide-in-seek, cars, or look at the city and watch everyone else cruising to school or work in their cars, motos or by way of walking. After 45 minutes or so we go back to our hotel room and repeat everything again in some different form or fashion (minus the breakfast). We will usually leave the hotel for lunch around 11 a.m-12 pm to go to a fast food restaurant such as Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Burger King, or  Pollo Campero. This is not my husbands, nor my favorite thing to do, but they all the fast food restaurants have a kids play area inside bigger than what you would normally find in the states. After we wear out that option we go to Wal-mart to pick up necessities or to an activity such as Chiminike Children's Museum, swimming, or to a mini arcade with rides and games for the kids. At 3:30 p.m. we have been taking naps. My husband was brave enough to battle that issue with the younger one. He did put up resistance the first day, but within 3 minutes he was out and slept for 1 1/2 hours until we woke him up. In the evening I will make dinner (hamburgers, chicken, spaghetti, or sandwiches/cereal) and replay everything all over again. We did bring the Wii with us so for a few nights the kids will take a 10 minute turn and then we head back up to the terrace to look at the city at night. 7:30-8 p.m. it is time for pajamas, brush teeth, a book read by Bob, pray and then lights out. It really is amazing how well they have been falling asleep, not a sound comes from the room where all 3 kids are sleeping. The youngest is out in 3 minutes or less. It is hotel living that is for sure, but it really is the best it can be (ok, a pool would have been nice. I am not going to lie).

p.s. These pictures were supposed to be in a video, but I am too tired to try to figure it out. Hopefully next time!

  1. Sally,

Thanks for the fun pictures and details!
Will your kids and husband be there the whole time or just a few weeks? I have 2 kids and I'm trying to figure out the whole school thing.
