It's Official - Finally! (Sept 12)

L to R - General Secretary, the notary, us, Marta - our lawyer.

Bob signing the decree

adding our fingerprint after our signatures

Today we signed our adoption decree two weeks to the day since we first arrived. Our appointment was set for 1 pm, but we were delayed until 3:45. It lasted about 45 minutes. She read the decree and then we signed and fingerprinted the papers. We arrived Tegucigalpa on Monday, August 29th. Judge signed the papers, Friday, Sept 2nd, and now its Monday, Sept 12th. We were close to signing last Wednesday, but then the excuses came and we were basically getting the run around as to when we would actually sign.  It was very frustrating to say the least, but I knew our turn would come and I am so glad to finally be able to say "ITS OFFICIAL". We can now start on the rest of the paperwork. Birth Certificate will be filed tomorrow (up to 3 weeks, not likely though), then Honduran passport (1 day),  I600, and then the Visa (1day-3 weeks). I would like to say we will be home in 2 weeks, but it is a waiting game at every step. For now I will enjoy this moment.

  1. So very happy for you all...expecting the same process soon...loved the pictures! I have not met Marta in person, so that was a treat!!! My husband went alone when we hired her and I have been emailing her for 18 months :) Hang in there, sweetheart! You will be home soon!!!
